Fare Information

The fare structure for LANtaVan rider fares is zone based with higher fares for longer trips.  Each zone represents four miles of travel.  The base fare for riders is $3.50 which applies to all trips that are less than 4 miles long.  For every additional four miles traveled, the fare increases by $0.30 (30 cents).  For example, for trips that are 4 miles or more but less than 8 miles long, the rider pays $3.80; for trips that are 8 miles or more but less than 12 miles long, the rider pays $4.10; and so on.  The maximum rider fare is $6.20 for all trips 36 miles or longer.

Mileage Full Cost Copayment (Rider Fare)
Zone 1 0-3.99 $23.35 $3.50
Zone 2 4-7.99 $25.35 $3.80
Zone 3 8-11.99 $27.35 $4.10
Zone 4 12-15.99 $29.35 $4.40
Zone 5 16-19.99 $31.35 $4.70
Zone 6 20-23.99 $33.35 $5.00
Zone 7 24-27.99 $35.35 $5.30
Zone 8 28-31.99 $37.35 $5.60
Zone 9 32-35.99 $39.35 $5.90
Zone 10 >36 $41.35 $6.20

For riders traveling under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Program, the same fares apply as described above for all trips of less than 12 miles long.  But the maximum fare paid by the rider is $4.40 for all trips that are 12 miles or longer.

When a rider, or their advocate or guardian, calls to make a reservation, they are informed of the fare that will need to be paid by the rider for that trip.

Fare Payment

When boarding the van, the rider will need to have tickets totaling the rider fare that was quoted when making the reservation.  To pay these rider fares, there are three types of tickets.  One ticket is a base fare ticket and will be worth $3.50.  There is a ticket worth $0.30 (30 cents) and a ticket worth $0.15 (15 cents).  The tickets can be used just like cash, that is, the ticket is worth the face value on the front of the ticket.  Any combination of tickets that total the quoted fare can be used.  For example, a rider fare of $4.10 can be paid with a base fare ticket worth $3.50 along with two tickets worth $0.30 (30 cents); that same fare could be paid with a base fare ticket worth $3.50 along with four tickets worth $0.15 (15 cents); etc.

Tickets

Base fare LANtaVan tickets from prior to November 3, 2015 are worth $3.35 and can also be used in combination with new tickets to pay a rider fare.  For example, a rider fare of $3.50 can be paid using a $3.35 ticket and one $0.15 (15 cents) ticket to pay the fare.

To assist riders in paying their fare, each ticket is a different color and size.  The base fare ticket worth $3.50 is yellow and is 3 1/2 inches long.  The ticket worth $0.30 (30 cents) is purple and is 2 ½ inches long.  The ticket worth $0.15 (15 cents) is red and is 1 1/4 inches long.

The base fare tickets are sold in books of six tickets. The book has a blue cover. The back cover provides a re-order form and there is a fly leaf sheet inside the front cover which allows the owner to enter their information in case the book is lost.  The fly leaf sheet is a different paper stock than the tickets.  The $0.30 (30 cent) and $0.15 (15 cent) tickets are both sold in books of ten tickets.

Boletos
